What would cause a perfect, unfaulted deity to grow jealous?

Question by curious moper: What would cause a perfect, unfaulted deity to grow jealous?
Just wondering…
In Greek mythology, there were often tales of mortal peoples who were so talented and beautiful that it even made the gods jealous of them because they might not have had such attributes.

Unlike those deities, God is supposed to be perfect and not flawed. But in some cases (I forget where), it is said that God is “a jealous god”.
So my question is: why would God need to be jealous of anything, if He is even jealous at all?
