Make sure that your couple acts like a couple in their situation. Conflict is especially important, because no relationship is absolutely perfect. Make them have fears and anxiety about themselves and their relationship, especially since they're a war. Don't rush their relationship, but don't drag it out for too long either. He shouldn't randomly fall in love with her in a minute. Don't put so many situations where they come close to being a couple, but it doesn't happen, because it gets frustrating if the suspense is prolonged (and not in a good way.)
