Question by Who Y: What is a MISTRESS and do you have to PAY?
It’s my understanding that a mistress is a girl who is paid for her “services” no strings attached.
For example, I pay a girls rent and in exchange I stop by her place after work to tango whenever I want.
Do mistresses and the dudes using them ever fall in love?

Misstress means someone you have an affair with or your second wife. Well, mistress are more likely to stay with you for your money–such as you buying her car, house, and support her financially.

Typically a mistress is someone who shags for the money. You pay her rent and buy her a car and keep her sitting pretty in la la land and she’ll be there for you to stop by and treat like a dirty little secret.
However, there are so many women out there that are just out and out sluts and wh*res that will do the same thing, pay their own way, make you feel like you’re the king of pancakes, and be your side pork for NOTHING but a few choice words. Tell them you love them, tell them they’re hot and the best little loose piggy in the whole wide world, and they will wait for you until the cows come home… or until you get caught and go back to your wife.
Suuuure, sometimes they “fall in love”. Like they say though, there’s nothing like a full dose of a mistress to remind you why you love your wife.

A ‘mistress’ used to have connotations of being a ‘kept woman’ i.e. someone you supported in return for sexual services. Nowadays it is often used to refer to a woman a man has an affair with, even if he is not supporting her.
Men in the past have sometimes married their mistresses. John of Gaunt, the son of King Edward III of England, married his long-time mistress Katherine Swinbrook after his second wife died. The children they had had together were legitimised after they married, and one of their descendents became King Henry VII of England.
And more recently Prince Charles married his mistress Camilla parker Bowles.
