Question by LostBIRD: Is dating a newly separated man considered cheating?
I’m interested to know what everyone’s opinion is on whether seeing other people while separated is considered cheating or not. I know it’s probably not the healthiest thing for the situation, but after being separated and being with other guys, my husband says that he considers that cheating. I say that since we had already been separated for a few months, and now over a year, and not even living in the same city and at the time, had planned on getting a divorce, it is not cheating.

Answer by Melina A lot of people separate because they need time away from each other to sort out their own personal issues, if it’s time to end the marriage or come to some sort of agreement to try to patch things up and salvage the marriage. Chances are if you’ve been separated for over a year your not likely to get back together. You should divorce already. Technically your still married so yes it is cheating.

So I’ve been dating this guy for 5 years now. Recently he has been acting different towards me. We don’t hangout as much and he always has excuses for it. I would like to know what he’s really been up to. How can I tell if he is cheating on me?

No offense but 5 years is enough time to know whether you are gonna marry this person or what. If no one has made any plans of future, he’s probably starting to feel very comfortable now.
The fact is if you date someone for a number of years like you two have been doing, they tend to start to put the other person on a back burner. It’s like he’s saying “she’s not going anywhere so I can make plans with my friends.”
It doesn’t mean he is cheating. It means he’s comfortable.
Signs of cheating are not returning your call, finding excuses to not do stuff with you (which you mentioned, but that all depends). I found that my ex seemed to always be busy on a Saturday night and never called me (we were dating long distance). I found out that was his little night to be on the personals chatting up other women. Pffft! Real nice.

What would you define cheating as? Would it be physical/intimate with another person? Or could going out with someone without intimate contact be considered cheating?

I am wanting to confront my husband about his cheating ways that I recently discovered but how do I do that with kids in the house? Im 2 months pregnant and ever since i became pregnant it’s expected every night for me to have wild crazy vivid dreams, and i always remember them. Before being pregnant i would do good to dream. My husband has cheated in the past and is having an ongoing extra marital relationship now for the past 4yrs. He acts as though she’s no big deal to him so I have not mentioned her in months. He says he does not want a divorce yet he can’t be faithful. For now he is happy “meeting in the middle”
